Surfing
Clonakilty and its surrounding beaches are a mecca for surfers. We are lucky to have two surf schools close to the town of Clonakilty. Inchydoney surf school is located a 10-minute drive away at Inchydoney Beach and can be contacted at Also we have surf sup at the picturesque Warren beach adjacent to the village of Rosscarbery. Both provide Lessons and what better way to pass a few hours in west Cork.

Beaches
Clonakilty is known as the beach centre of West Cork as it has several beautiful beaches within its environs. Our nearest is Inchydoney which is a wonderful family beach. To name a few more there is Dunworly, the red Strand, the Warren and the long Strand and Ownahincha. Please remember that not all are suitable for swimming but are wonderful for a stroll. Always adhere to notices or lifeguard directions.

Golf
We have a number of Golf courses with the area all offering a great day out. Clonakilty Golf Course is set amid the Gardens of Lisselan estate on the banks of the … river. Dunmore Golf course which is on the coast overlooks Clonakilty Bay and it’s located at Dunmore Hotel. Approximately 20 kilometres form the town is the famous old Head golf course with stunning views over the surrounding areas and the Atlantic Ocean.
Model Village
West Cork model railway is a unique attraction suited to all ages. The model village is a miniature village with handcrafted model buildings and miniature railway depicting historic west cork life. The model village is also the embarkation point for the train which takes you on a tour of the town.

Clonakilty Distillery
Clonakilty Distillery is located a short stroll from the centre of town. The distillery makes single pot still Whisky and “minke” Gin. Visitors are welcome on one of its tours or to participate in its gin masterclass.
Clonakilty Equestrian Centre
Clonakilty Equestrian Centre offers treks along the beautiful countryside of West Cork. Ride along magnificent wide open sandy beaches and scenic roads. Jumping courses are also available and those with disabilities are also welcome.
Michael Collins House/Museum
Michael Collins House, Clonakilty is a museum dedicated to Irish patriot and revolutionary hero, Michael Collins. Visit to learn about the “Big Fella” himself, his life story entwined with the history of the fight for Irish independence. The museum is presented in an accessible manner through guided tours, interactive displays, audio visuals, artefacts and more, bringing the history to life for all the family. For those looking to delve into the history further information boards, history talks and our highly qualified tour guides will more than happily engage in debate and answer any questions you may have.

Michael Collins Centre & Museum
At this unique museum, visitors enjoy a comprehensive presentation on the life and times of Michael Collins. There are audiovisuals and live illustrated presentations delivered three times daily. The Michael Collins Centre houses one of the top Collections in Ireland of Michael Collins personal items, with artefacts and memorabilia from the War Of Independence and Civil War. Outside there is a life-size recreation of the Beál na Blá ambush site where Michael Collins was killed and a recreation of a firing squad execution yard. The Centre is located in close proximity to numerous sites linked with Michael Collins, including his birthplace at Woodfield and Beál na Blá. The Museum offers private Michael Collins Tours to these sites, as well as a more extensive War Of Independence Tour.

Clonakilty Pudding Visitor Centre
Clonakilty is the home of Ireland’s favourite black pudding, using a secret recipe that dates back to the late 1800s. Take this opportunity to visit us and discover the story of Clonakilty Blackpudding by taking a self-guided and interactive audio tour around the visitor centre in our purpose-built facility.
During the visitor experience, discover what life was like in rural Ireland back in the late 1880s while learning the history of Clonakilty Blackpudding and how it has evolved through the ages. Experience Clonakilty in the 1980s, and how the Twomey family story started.
