About An Súgán

Family run and owned for over 40 years

Restaurant & Seafood Bar

Over the years, An Súgán Seafood Bar & Restaurant has become synonymous with West Cork and Clonakilty.  The O’Crowley family has proudly owned and run An Súgán for over thirty years, serving meals from the freshest locally sourced ingredients.

Food is served all day in the bar, with extensive menus that offer something delicious for every taste and budget, from An Súgán seafood pie to a Ballyburden steak sandwich or our wide selection of homemade desserts.

In addition to our colourful character bar, the restaurant has two private dining rooms that are suitable for all occasions, from birthdays to anniversaries.

Guest House

Our guesthouse is located adjacent to the restaurant in a beautiful Georgian house, which is ideally located on a quiet side street near the centre of town.

We have seven comfortable and elegantly furnished en-suite rooms, with full amenities. Our famous full Irish breakfast (and lighter fare) is served every morning.

There is much history attached to the guesthouse, which at one time would have overlooked Clonakilty Harbour. The guesthouse was home to Jane Irwin, wife of the Fenian O'Donovan Rossa, and it is said that Charles Stewart Parnell once addressed a crowd from the window.

  • Private Dining celebrate with us

We have two private dining rooms available for hire which are suitable for all occasions, from birthdays to communion and wedding dinners.

  • Personalised Menus for all tastes & budgets

We can design a menu to suit individual needs. We often have real treats like lobster An Súgán, black sole on the bone and fresh crab salad.

  • Group Bookings tailored to your needs

An Súgán welcomes corporate, social, or family events, and we are eager to meet your requirements. Contact us for all your group events.

  • Beer Garden a perfect spot

Why not drop in for a bite to eat or a drink in our lovely beer garden? It’s the ideal spot on a warm West Cork summer evening.

Our guests say...

  • “The location was very convenient and I felt very welcomed by all members of staff. The room was very comfortable and clean and had everything I needed. I had a cooked breakfast both mornings — delicious.”
    Ann, UK
  • “It goes without saying that when in Clonakilty you have to try the pudding—and the terrine of black and white pudding served with a creamy sweet (sun-dried?) tomato sauce was one of the best I have ever had.”
    MG, France
  • “The location could not have been better, just off the main street and easy walking distance from all pubs and restaurants. We had breakfast on both mornings and the choice, quality and service were excellent.”
    Kevin, Cork
  • “Full cooked breakfast each day was really good with the famous Clonakilty black pudding done perfectly. I’d personally prefer chunky sausages though. Lovely wheaten bread & cafetière coffee set us up for the day.”
    Jon, London
